4 Stylish Storage Solutions to Organize Your Kitchen Space

April 6, 2014 By Stephanie

One of the biggest problems homeowners run into when designing their kitchen is inadequate storage space. With food, cooking supplies, dishware and other common kitchen items all needing to be stored, it’s pretty common for drawers, cupboards and even countertops to become overcrowded and cluttered. If you’re struggling to keep your kitchen looking stylish due to its lack of storage space, try using these four stylish kitchen organization tips.

1. Hang your pots and pans

Hanging up your pots and pans is not just a great way to save space, but when it comes time for meal prep, it also makes your search for the right pot or pan much easier. There is no wrong or right spot to hang your pots or pans, as long as it makes sense for your space. Use hooks on the wall or hang them up in the middle of your kitchen.

2. Use decorative baskets

Can’t fit all of your fruit in the fridge? Are your cooking utensils taking up so much space that your drawers are difficult to close? Then you might want to consider using a decorative basket as a storage solution. With a stylish basket or other type of holder, you can keep items organized while adding visual interest to your space.

3. Look for dual-purpose furniture

Smarter storage solutions like dual-purpose furniture allow you to create more storage room without actually taking up any more space. Whenever you are in the market for new kitchen furniture, see if there are options that also offer storage space. For example, if you need a new kitchen island, look for one that has cupboards and drawers rather than just a basic countertop.

4. Add a spice rack

Spices come in small containers, but if you have a lot of them, they tend to take up a lot of space. Instead of cluttering your cupboards with these spices, mount a spice rack on the wall so you can keep the containers organized and make them easier to find. This is also a great way to turn ordinary items into décor, and it will help enhance the look of your kitchen.
