Design a Clean and Stylish Entryway with These 5 Ideas

When it comes to interior design, the entryway is often ignored. Although you may not spend much time there, it is however the first area that you, family, and friends see upon walking into your home. Take advantage of this opportunity to make a great first impression and design an entryway you’ll love coming home to every day.

Here are five ideas to get you started.

1. Place a storage bench against the wall

Entryway benches are great because they provide a place for you to sit down and tie your laces in the morning, and you can also use them to store your stuff. Whether you choose a wooden bench or one with padding is up to you, so select what best matches your personal style and existing decor.

2. Don’t estimate the power of a drip tray and durable rug

If your entryway always looks dirty due to mud and water being tracked in, set down a drip tray for dirt-covered shoes. A rug that can handle moisture and heavy traffic, like a polypropylene rug, can be set down by the door to reduce mess.

3. Choose smarter storage solutions

If you only need to store jackets in the entryway, then a coat rack would work perfectly fine. If you have sporting equipment, shoes, gloves, scarves and more outdoor items that are cluttering your entryway, however, then you’ll want to find a storage solution that matches your needs. Glove racks, cubbies and organizers are all furniture you might consider.

4. Create that “wow” factor with statement lighting

Great lighting is essential to creating a welcoming home. Rather than just installing an ordinary light fixture, however, you can make an impact with an eye-catching pendant or chandelier. Even if you don’t have much space in the entryway to add great decor, a pendant will add that wow factor you’re looking for.

5. Take advantage of wall space to add personality and warmth

Another great way to add style without taking up space is to use the wall. Hang up artwork, pictures, a clock or mirror. Small accessories can make a big difference in the overall look of a room.
