How to Find the Perfect Dining Room Chandelier and Add Style to Your Space

Is your dining room looking a little dull? Here’s an easy fix that you may not have considered: try hanging a chandelier. A chandelier can greatly benefit areas like the dining room, and will help liven up your space without crowding the room.

When searching for a chandelier, you’ll find a wide selection to choose from. The different designs, styles and sizes available today might make you feel overwhelmed at first, but don’t worry. You can narrow down your options and find perfect chandelier ideas for your dining room with these considerations in mind:

Price range

Price may seem like an obvious factor to consider, but you’d be surprised at how many wait to look at the cost of a chandelier until after they’ve found one they love – and then realize they can’t afford it. If shopping online, narrow your search by selecting a price range within your budget. That way you can find the perfect chandelier without spending more money than you can afford.

Style

Just like sofas and tables, chandeliers are designed in various styles and can be either casual or formal. Before you start your search, consider the style of your dining room – whether it be traditional, modern, formal or casual – so you can find a chandelier to match. An overly dressy chandelier might be pretty, but it would look very out of place in a casual dining room.

Size

Size is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a chandelier and you should always select a size based on your dining room table. A good rule of thumb is to have the chandelier be about one-half to three-quarters the width of your table. Otherwise, the chandelier will overpower the room and the overall room design will look off balance.

Height

Height is also an important consideration when choosing a chandelier. You don’t want the chandelier hanging so low that family members bump into it whenever they stand to leave the table. Typically, chandeliers should be about 30-32 inches above the table so people can stand up comfortably.

You don’t have to remodel your entire dining room to spice up its look. Simply find a chandelier with these considerations in mind and you can liven up your space in no time!
